Potholed roads give Bengaluru residents the jitters | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: Danger seems to be lurking on some of the thoroughfares that witness several vehicles and pedestrians pass by every day in Banashankari 3rd Stage. Though the problems faced by commuters are there for all to see, the authorities appear to be in a slumber.
Potholes have appeared on almost all the roads in the area after the recent rain. A big pothole has come up right at the centre of Chikkalasandra Main Road in Naidu Layout, Banashankari 3rd Stage. The road leading towards Mahalaxmi Temple has caved in at several spots.
“The Chikkalasandra Main Road is a 80ft-wide road. Initially, it was a BDA-developed layout and had huge sewage water lines. After 2007, BBMP took over the area. Every now and then, roads in this area are caving in and craters have appeared. A retaining wall is being built now. The problem will be sorted out in a few days,” said Supriya Shekar, corporator, Chikkalasandra.
“On another road in the area that links Chikkalasandra and Naidu Layout, a sanitary pipeline is leaking and the stretch has caved in. I will visit the location soon and get the problem fixed,” Supriya added. “It’s dangerous to travel on Chikkalasandra Main Road. During rain, it’s difficult to spot potholes. The road has caved in at the same place for the fourth or fifth time now,” said Yashas L, another resident.
