Mysuru: Official fined for violating mask rule | Mysuru News

MYSURU: In a sterling example of practising what they preach, Mysuru City Corporation officials fined the chief officer of Kadakol town panchayat Rs 250 for failing to wear a mask properly at a Covid-19 review meeting chaired by district deputy commissioner (DC) Bagadi Gautham on Thursday.
Authorities said the DC convened a meeting of senior officials on Thursday to discuss the prevailing Covid-19 situation and take stock of the vaccination drive, RTPCR testing, and other pandemic-related issues.
“During the meeting, the chief officer of the town panchayat was not wearing a mask properly.
Senior officials warned him several times to wear the mask properly, but he didn’t pay heed. Since he was found violating the mask rule, the DC directed authorities to impose a fine on the spot,” sources said.
Dr DG Nagaraj, MCC health officer, confirmed the incident. “We collected a Rs 250 fine from the official,” Dr Nagaraj said.
Authorities said all officials have been asked to set an example and follow Covidappropriate behavior, including wearing masks properly, following social distancing and ensuring hand hygiene at all times so that people too follow these norms. “It is for the first time, fine has been collected from an official,” they said.
