SRINAGAR: The J&Okay Police has registered an FIR in opposition to girl advocate Deepika Singh Rajawat for allegedly hurting non secular sentiments of a group in her tweet on Navratri.

The lawyer, who fought for the justice of a nomad woman brutally raped and murdered in Kathua in January 2018, has alleged that the FIR was registered on the behest of BJP and stated she would problem the FIR.

The Gandhi Nagar police station in Jammu registered the case in opposition to Rajawat underneath Sections 505 (b)(2), 294 and 295 A of the IPC. On October 19, Rajawat had tweeted a cartoon with a caption “Irony” to make some extent about ladies’s security.

She had put collectively two components — in a single half titled “different days”, a person is aggressively holding legs of a girl, depicting sexual violence, and within the different half titled “Navratri”, a person is touching the ft of a Hindu goddess.

“It highlighted the conduct and never the faith. I by no means harm non secular sentiments as I didn’t say something in opposition to faith. I’m a proud Hindu and draw inspiration from my faith,” Rajawat instructed this newspaper.
