Destiny of a nation is shaped by its classroom -UPSC SOLVED ESSAY

A child who is not well accustomed to classroom environment before starting elementary school, tends to get nervous and often becomes prone to feel fearful. To overcome this fear of classroom, the Destiny of a nation will co-create an environment that is familiar and makes children happy so that they can enjoy their education right from the start. We will create a class that will bring out the best in every child, providing them with opportunities to pursue knowledge and be creative.

“Education is the most powerful tool which you can use to change the world Nations are built over generations by blood and sweat of its leaders, businessmen, scientists, and more importantly by ordinary citizens. The future of any nation depends on its children who are the potential torch bearers. Thus there growth and development of physical, intellectual and moral is a priority for any nation.

Classrooms are the first learning space outside the house. It is here the foundation for educational achievements is laid. It is the classrooms which are factories of potential engineers, doctors, architects who shape physical infrastructure and quality of life in a nation It may be trite to say that all-round development of our future citizens can be achieved by building a strong foundation in Education. That it is a unique investment in the present, bearing invaluable benefits for the future. You, dear reader, decide whether or not our collective efforts (or the lack of these) in this sphere, warrant such denigration or do the outcomes make us proud.

It is often said that the youth of the nation is the future of the nation and in order to make the future brighter, the youth needs proper guidance and a proper education system that would make them capable enough to build a prosperous and harmonious nation.

Nations are not built overnight, it’s a gradual process which takes time and it requires a great deal of care. The future of any nation depends on its children who are the potential torchbearers. Thus their growth and physical, intellectual and moral development is the priority of any nation. Classrooms are the first learning space outside the house which provides them with various opportunities to grow. It is here the foundation for educational achievements are laid. It is from here that people with great minds emerge and help in enlightening the whole nation. All this helps in nation building.

Nation building leads to the unification of the citizens of the country so that thecountry can remain in peace and also remain stable in a long run. Now the question arises, what could be the best tool for unifying the citizens? The answer is education. People, who are educated, are aware of what is right and what is wrong. Their mind works in somewhat similar manner. Thus, educated people are united by the sense of thinking, by the sense of right and wrong .An illiterate population becomes a burden on the nation and its growth. Quality primary and secondary education is necessary for the formation of human capital. Apart from the professional development of youth, classrooms have a major role to play in shaping the outlook of students. Classrooms provide platforms to students to interact. The students in classrooms come from diverse backgrounds in terms of religion, language caste and economic status.

A healthy interaction in the classrooms forms the base for a citizen with tolerant and secular outlook especially in a country like India which has multiple religion, languages etc. They generate a sense of brotherhood among students. Classrooms are essential for instilling right values like kindness, cleanliness ,gender equality necessary for making good and responsible citizens. Students learn discipline in schools which guide them throughout their professional and personal life In India, near universal enrollment has been achieved in primary education. The quality of education being imparted and atmosphere in classrooms has caused concern. Studies have shown that existing social discriminations are replicated in classrooms with students from lower castes being asked to clean toilets and sit on the floor. This hampers the vision of inclusive growth. Poor status of primary education is being reflected in unemployment of youth in India. Nations with excellent classrooms have always remained on the track of social and economic development. The current education system which focuses on marks and not on practical or rational thinking certainly needs alteration. Hence, there is an urgent need to wake ourselves and start working towards improving our education system. The greatest need of the hour is the whole education system from redesigning the curriculum to the teaching methodology.

Schools are engaged in making students believe that they can’t become someone they wanted to be rather they’re given some options to choose one where they can fit themselves and given some instructions to achieve that position, most fail. Here’s why most fail, some are not able do even after following the instructions while those who achieve it has lost their creativity. Definitely these students can solve problems but can’t create new/alternative solutions. If they would, then, the India would have seen dramatical growth after independence, because there would be more Ramanujam, Kalam and Aryabhata and more inventions here in India.

India is a great nation to adopt anything whether it’s fashion or technology but very poor in creating a new one. And why not? We have schools that teaches us how to memorize anything and do the same. But it does not teach to become creative whose creative idea could be adopted by other nations. Things that have been adopted by other nations like yoga, then, yoga do not come from modern education. Our modern education system have killed creativity, it’s only creating students who can be a good copy machine but not a genuinely different one.

After independence, we’ve no major achievements but India have developed. We are using modern technologies and internet but we are following other countries what they’ve invented and a follower becomes a leader only when they have creativity. But our classrooms are shaped in a way that do not engage students in recreational activities which is very essential part of the development of the student. Students are suffering depression just because they are leaving behind their goals and frustrations of long systematic hours of study which do not give them time to think something new.

When we see India in terms of culture, heritage, diversity and population then we find it at the top of the list but when we see in terms of World Happiness Index, Human Development Index and other indexes then we find it under the bottom of the list. Why?

Our classrooms teaches several subjects to the students but most of them are meaningless because rather understanding the subject, they just memorizes the texts. UPSC exam is the best example where more than a million of student participate for around 1000 seats. For 1 million aspirants there are thousands of classrooms for its preparation. The main purpose of coaching centres is to coach student to qualify UPSE and strengthen our country. To shaping an IAS officer, we need a classroom where they can prepare for it, for shaping destination of a nation, we need classroom at its best which could create creative and innovative minds for sustainable future. Else, today we can see the differences in India itself.

The attitudes of its citizens and socio-political systems also determine how a nation will progress. The citizens’ feelings of solidarity towards the nation and willingness to sacrifice and work hard for its betterment are further factors that build a nation. Countries that are deeply divided on the lines of religion, politics, and geography find it hard to focus on economic growth and overall development. Syria, torn due to civil war, is an example to demonstrate how lack of solidarity and harmony can ruin the fortune of a country. Ultimately, it is the citizens who have the onus of changing the fortunes of the lands they live in. Recognizing this, let us now look at how education can build a nation.

Role of education in building a nation.-Schools are the places where students learn the skills and techniques to be engineers, architects, teachers, and writers.. After being equipped with these skills, these students can later contribute to nation-building. Most of the best universities of the world like Harvard, Oxford, and Cambridge are located in developed countries. These universities produce the best scientists, researchers, and engineers who are able to take their nations forward through their pioneering work. It is relevant to recognize that most of the leaders of the Indian independence movement such as Nehru, Gandhi, and Bose were well-educated and hence able to contribute to nation-building in early years. Young students learn about values such as hard work, patriotism, brotherhood, and tolerance in schools, which empower them to become able citizens who can contribute meaningfully towards the development of their nations. In ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse countries such as India, schools play a vital role as equalizers and in bringing people together. If schoolchildren are taught about working together and excelling in the fields they choose, they can be effective contributors to a nation’s success.

India, since antiquated occasions has been the “Guru” of the world as far as learning with it’s a-list colleges like Nalanda, Taxila and Vikramshila. These centers of training not just pulled in understudies from every one of the sides of the country yet additionally welcomed individuals from China and Java. Different courses were offered to understudies here, they were directed in expressive arts, clinical science, stargazing, governmental issues and specialty of war. The Guru-Shishya parampara (Teacher-Student custom) where a sacrosanct connection used to create between an understudy and his lord during the time spent encapsulation of information had celebrated the way toward learning since Vedic occasions.

It was a result of the impartation of reasonable and logical schooling that India could deliver virtuosos like Aryabhatta, Varamihira, Charak and so on who effectively positioned India high on the platform of information.

While discussing how training helped forming India’s fate, and not referencing about “Shantiniketan model of learning” would be an unfairness. The brainchild of Rabindranath Tagore, it got going with only 5 understudies and an equivalent number of teachers. Tagore himself was a drop-out who accepted that the dividers of classrooms some place confined the development of an understudy’s capacities and thinking. Subsequently, Shantiniketan was the perfect where regardless of the feel of a conventional learning at a school, the spot gave sufficient opportunity to the understudies to investigate their actual potential, understand their commitment towards bigger urban local area. Craftsmen from every one of the sides of the country where welcome to remain there and grow their wings. It is a result of these means reclaimed then, at that point, that Bengal’s specialty and people culture is very much protected today as well.

In the words of Malala Yousafzai, “One book, one pen, one kid and one educator can change the world.” This plainly features the meaning of training and the job of an instructor and an understudy in molding the course of a country as well as the entire world. Coming from a spot defaced with brutality and fear, this youngster rose into conspicuousness when she voiced for the essential common freedom of training. For she knew, the force of instruction and information that these devices are sufficiently proficient to bring harmony, amicability, pride and openings.

As it’s said that the “fate of a country is formed in it’s classrooms”, bringing Finland’s model gets quintessential. Finland today stands straight on with European monsters like France, UK advertisement Germany. It has the fourth biggest information economy in Europe. This has been conceivable on account of its broadly liked model of instruction where schools confer instructive administrations as well as friendly administrations as well. Schools there center around comprehensive advancement of understudies as well as on proficient improvement of their teachers as well. The feeling of regard for teachers that is lessening in present occasions, is well maintained in Finland. It will not be right to see it’s anything but a present day “Shantiniketan” which is a moving model for different countries.

Returning to our country, we discover India creating huge amounts at a time in every one of the circles be it clinical science, economy, innovation or design. Clinical Tourism is a quickly developing area in India with Kerala and Tamil Nadu arising as clinical center points. India today is the quickest developing economy and is consistently pushing forward to turn into a world chief. In the circle of science and innovation as well, it is contacting new statures, from creating practical Chandrayan to dispatching 104 satellites in one go. Could this be conceivable without the previous understudies who arisen to turn out to be the present effective experts? The appropriate response is a straight no.

However, the image isn’t pretty much as splendid as it shows up. There are a few provisos existing in the schooling framework which appallingly affects the fate of the small kids just as the fate of our country. The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) uncovered that learning level in Indian schools is “pretty frustrating”. Just 48% of fifth grade understudies could peruse second grade books. The Right To Education Act (RTE)which was eagerly awaited to give quality, free and obligatory schooling to children from 6-14 years old couldn’t do a lot to work on the principles of instruction. Not so much as one establishment could make it to the main 200 in the rundown of Rankings of World Universities . Then, at that point there are some infrastructural bottlenecks as well, similar to inaccessibility of jungle gyms in schools, that confine physical and mental development of understudies. Absence of utilitarian latrines due to which young ladies avoid going to schools and this is viewed as one of the significant purposes behind drop-out proportion being high in India. On the off chance that accomplishing widespread enrolment in essential levels merits acclaiming, the drop-out rate being pretty much as high as about 18% is likewise worth stressing.

As indicated by National Crime Records Bureau’s information, consistently, one understudy carries out self destruction in India. The purposes behind which could be numerous yet noticeable ones could be sick administration of stress, pressure, absence of direction and advising. Public spending in India on emotional wellness is lower than what Bangladesh spends on psychological well-being. The way of life of repetition learning, rivalry and draw of imprints has some place held onto the judicious and coherent improvement of a person. This image was unquestionably not visioned by the teachers at Nalanda and Taxila or Tagore, who had based learning on logical and basic reasoning.

What India needs to do is follow a two crease approach. One is to investigate its wonderful history where even with insignificant assets, India talented the world with significant commitments and discoveries. The digit Zero, Plastic medical procedure, decimal framework are generally India’s favors to the world. The need is of recovery of Indian training framework, foster again the logical temper which is additionally a key obligation, so youthful personalities can endeavor towards greatness in all circles so the country continually ascends to more elevated levels of accomplishments. The other is to receive the accepted procedures from around the globe and join it with the Indian System. For example, Japan however being a low asset base country made quick mechanical advancements due to its imaginative instructive practices.

These ought to be very much combined with the execution of the suggestions of TSR Subramanium Committee, which discusses expanding spending expense on instruction to 6% of GDP, making pre-tutoring for children till 5 as a right and welcoming top 200 colleges to open grounds in India. One excellent measure is the Compulsory Education (Amendment) charge, which allows an opportunity to undeveloped teachers to prepare themselves for their positions on the grounds that talented and prepared teachers will draw out the best from the understudies as a gifted potter makes outfitted pots. Another critical advance is the dispatch of SWAYAM where teachers from IITs and IIMs will give online courses to the understudies. On the off chance that India is moving towards Digital India, why not acquiring digitization the circle of schooling and learning and making it more intuitive?

Classrooms and schools have consistently been viewed as our subsequent homes and gurus (teachers) have consistently held a spot significantly higher than our folks. It was the classrooms just that made Mahatma Gandhi an effective counselor. The main exercises of honesty, trustworthiness and peacefulness were additionally educated by him in the classrooms. It was in a class that Dr. Kalam got the aspiration to turn into a researcher, which made him the rocket man of our country.

Assuming basic policy, infrastructural and institutional changes are taken up, India will raise researchers and specialists as well as “people” with high qualities and ethics which is a need in the present occasions. And afterward, it’s anything but an embellishment to say that India can deliver a lot more Gandhis and Kalams who’d become the light carriers for the general public and wash away indecencies, wrongdoings and ills from the substance of the country and compose its fate with correspondence, equity, consideration and congruity.
