GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday spoke to his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray and requested him to make sure correct safety of Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, who’s presently in jail in Navi Mumbai.
The telephonic dialog got here after relations of Goswami met Sonowal right here and urged him to do the needful for the safety of the journalist, who they claimed is beneath “life menace”.
“The Assam chief minister spoke to the Maharashtra chief minister and requested him to make sure the safety of Goswami,” an official mentioned.
Thackeray assured Sonowal that he would do the needful for the safety of Goswami, who hails from Assam.
Later, in a tweet, Sonowal mentioned, “Talked to Maharashtra CM Shri Uddhav Thackeray ji and requested him for sufficient safety preparations for famend journalist Arnab Goswami. I talked to him as Mr.Goswami’s relations approached me and intimated that there’s not sufficient safety offered to him.”
