Alankrita Sahai is slowly but gradually making her space in the industry with sheer hard work and dedication. In an exclusive interview with ETimes, she opens up about her fitness mantra, lessons learned during the lockdown, and more. Excerpts…

You are known for your fit body and style. What is your style and fitness mantra?
I love to look classy and sexy and yet be comfortable. I can’t go overboard; it is just not my thing. I love to workout to stay healthy, mentally, emotionally, and physically. My workout regime and meditation help me with that. I do dance and love doing action too. I like to stay active. I don’t diet, instead I just eat good food and stay hydrated.

How have you been dealing with the lockdown?
I wake up and do my paath and gratitude journal, workout, paint, and read a lot. I talk to my loved ones and check in on them; I try my best to help people. I have been dealing with it much better than last time. I have learned to be patient and more understanding towards myself and others. I do my best to be there for people and take care of myself too. So, I have a routine. Then there are OTT platforms that have been a real lifesaver during these lockdowns.

Do you have any friends from the industry you like to hang out with?
Yes, I have friends from the industry and we do hang out but we don’t boast about it publicly and we don’t get caught by the paps!

What type of content do you wish to be a part of?
I would like to be a part of biopics and real-life stories. I like action films, romantic films, and crime dramas — a genre where I feel the West still rules. I’m an actor so I want to play different roles that move people and also entertains them. I want to embody different characters. Content is the daddy so I guess it needs to be really juicy but in the right ways!

Were you a movie buff since childhood?
Yes, I was a movie buff! I idolised Rekha ji, Meryl Streep, Asha Parekh, Saira Bano, Priyanka Chopra, Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla, and so many others.

Any message or advice for your fans?
For now, just stay at home and get vaccinated. Be kind to yourself and others. We tend to be harsh, given the circumstances and the frustration. Even Instagram can make you have an identity crisis looking at all the glitz and glam but you are as precious as anyone with a blue tick. You are unique and have your own calling. Help as much as you can. Don’t be in a hurry. I love you and I will keep doing my best to make you proud and make you fall in love with me even more.
